Skills and competences
DAMA (University of Ferrara) is a scientific partner of BioPharmaNet Project. DAMA performs data mining, and integration, of results from high throughput (HTP) biomolecular tests.
DAMA offers to the scientists and customers an array of biostatistical, bioinformatics and biocomputing services, including the processing of:
- Microarray/RT PCR cards expression data
- SNP chips
- Next generation sequencing (deep sequencing: ie Solexa and SOLiD) data
- Automation of customized bioinformatics procedures
Data are processed and results feed back to the customers in form of hypertext, figures, tables or networks.
Our mission is enabling the scientists/customers to extract the maximum knowledge from their HTP experiments. We aim to collaborate with the scientists towards the optimal design for the experiment, a too often overlooked but essential starting point. Our final goal is to generate a positive feedback loop, capable of gaining momentum by extending the experimental plan through the evaluation of the results generated in each successive step or cycle.
The role in the project is bioinformatics and data integration.
DAMA has been a partner in GeBBALab and it is involved in a range of national and international projects related to life science and bioinformatics.
DAMA members are internationally recognized for their pioneering work on microRNAs and cancer.
